Some children in upper school, including some of our Year 4 pupils, took part in a Songwriting Workshop with Nathan Timothy from The Songwriting Charity. They had an amazing day and together they wrote and recorded a song all about kindness! They really hope you enjoy listening to it!

We were so impressed with your World Book Day costumes- thank you to all the parents for your support in this. We have been working hard on recognising decimal and fraction equivalents and used the game of snap and pairs to help us. In History, we looked at Anglo Saxon Gods and Goddesses and then created our own God. We had to consider who or what the God was named after plus any special objects associated with this God. We then turned our design into a clay tile. Here are our finished clay tiles... we think they are fantastic! We worked in the role of Historians in small groups to try and find out about the life of the Anglo- Saxons. We had to examine each object carefully and discuss our ideas as a team. Year 4 have a fantastic day at West Stow on Tuesday. We really enjoyed exploring the Anglo Saxon village and all agreed, how difficult it would be to live in houses with no running water, electricity, beds and having to hunt and cook our own food! We used our historical enquiry skills in the museum when looking closely at different artefacts. Thank you very much to our parent helpers for joining us on this trip- we hope you had fun too! Miss Hood's maths group has worked really hard this week on selecting the correct coins to pay for an item (in the least amount of coins as possible) and on giving the correct change. We used money and played shops to help us with this skill. On Tuesday, we had visitors from NatWest bank come into class to work alongside us to plan a party. Each group had a budget of £100 and had to consider a venue, entertainment, decorations and food when planning our parties. We soon realised that we couldn't have everything we wanted so had to really budget carefully! Some of us saved money by making food and a birthday cake rather than buying one whilst other groups saved money by holding the party at home, in the park or at a beach to save on venue costs. We worked really hard to keep within the budget and presented our party ideas and costings to the class at the end. We have been working hard in art lessons to follow a step by step guide to help us to draw a self portrait with appropriate proportions. Take at look at our work in progress... Thank you Mrs Vinnicombe for organising a fantastic drumming workshop- we loved every second of it! We were very good at keeping a steady beat and impressed the workshp leaders with our musical ability. |
