Yesterday, we were lucky enough to take part in a tennis lesson delivered by Rayleigh Tennis Club. Some of our children have even been invited to the club for a final tennis match against other schools- well done!

Over the last few weeks, we have been very busy designing innovative European bread. Here are some pictures of us making the bread and our finished bread products. On Friday, the whole school took part in a DT Day. Year 4 had to design and make a balloon powered vehicle. We had so much fun and all rose to the challenge! Congratulations to our winners Jessica and Dylan. We have had a lovely first week back, focusing on our well being. In class, we have made sure we keep active by taking part in Go Noodle activities, completed some mindfulness colouring, been on a school trip and played the flute. This afternoon, we spoke about the things that make us happy and help us to feel calm and made our own individual 'little box of happiness'. The children have decorated their box with all the things they love to do to improve their well being. It would be great if the children could continue to think of activity ideas to help them to relax and put these ideas inside their box at home.
What an amazing, fun filled day we had yesterday at Writtle College. We loved seeing the farm machinery in action, learning about where our food comes from and especially sampling food and drink along the way! We even got to see and pet some farm animals and some of the children were incredibly brave and held a tarantula! On the 24th May, we commemorated what would have been Queen Victoria's 200th birthday by learning all about her and how britain changed under her reign. We particularly enjoyed learning about the Industrial Revolution, matching job descriptions to the correct job and voting for what we thought would be the best and worst job during Victorian times! Next, we looked at Victorian buildings and grouped buildings by gothic or classical shape. Finally we created a commemorative plate and here are our finished designs! Today, we all took part in a inter house spelling competition. We all worked really hard and after a few competitive rounds, Lodge won! Well done to all children involved, especially those who got through to the semi finals/finals.
4H had great fun kneading dough and making their own pizzas at Pizza Express. We taste tested different ingredients and took part in a quiz. 4P photographs to follow after their trip! We hope you enjoy our performance of 'Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs'. We are so proud of all the children. They have worked hard to learn their lines, songs and dances and we think that they all are superstars!
Thank you to parents for supplying the amazing costumes. |
